No one wants to talk about it, but toilet paper is a necessity when it comes to #vanlife. But, what kind to get? If you have a big ol’ RV, then you kind of need to buy the RV safe stuff (which can be really expensive). But for regular #vanlifers, we don’t have all of that fancy plumbing to protect.
Can’t I just buy toilet paper at Wal-Mart?
But, if you’ve been to Wal-Mart lately, their toilet paper can get really expensive too! For some reason, the name brand stuff all seems to have a bit of an oily feel to it. I suppose that’s aloe or something, but it just feels slimy to me. So why pay more for that? And the prices for the name brands are getting kind of ridiculous.
And the cheap stuff they have doesn’t really cut it. It’s cheaper because it has less layers, so it rips a lot more easily, which could lead to messy situations. And it’s a lot rougher too – no need to use sandpaper on sensitive areas So, what to do?
Thankfully, we found a better alternative.
Thankfully, we have the answer. Google a Dollar Tree near you, and go pick up some Strong and Soft toilet paper. It’s $1.25 for a 4-pack, and, honestly, we prefer this stuff over the name brands. Heck, before we even started #vanlife, we were using this stuff at home!
We initially discovered this during COVID. When our Wal-Mart first ran out of toilet paper, Dollar Tree still had this in stock. Thankfully, we managed to get there before the hoarders discovered it, and were able to grab several rolls to tide us over for a bit. Unfortunately, eventually those folks did discover Dollar Tree a bit later, so even that didn’t work out for as long as we hoped.
With it’s price, we were initially thinking it was going to be disappointing. But once we tried it, we never went back to the other stuff (if we could help it. Times were crazy for a while there during COVID).
For us, this is the best toilet paper out there. Forget the name brand stuff, and pick up some Strong and Soft at a Dollar Tree. Your bum will thank us.
